Ratings
Bill’s TV Emporium will be using a combination of a letter grade and numerical grade. It’s a pretty easy breakdown, and anyone who has spent any time in school knows how this works, but there is one twist in my perfect rating that you won’t find in school.
100/P (Perfect)
Simply put, a flawless episode, not a thing wrong with it in any way.
93-99/A
Minor flaws, but no major mistakes.
90-92/A-
An excellent episode, but it lacks some power and resonance, and has a few more mistakes.
85-89/B+
Great episode, and very fun to watch, but the plot leaves a little bit wanting or it’s a bit rough around the edges.
80-84/B
Good episode, but its flaws are more glaring.
75-79/B-
Good material, but the overall product is mediocre. Mistakes, plot problems, minimal characterization, etc..
70-74/C+
Has a few good moments and is still fun, but the plot can’t connect with the viewer and the flaws continue to build.
65-69/C
Still an episode that matters, but the good moments are few, the plot is starting to look like Swiss cheese, and characterization is bad.
60-64/C-
Very flawed episode, mistakes galore, characters are not acting like themselves, the plot doesn’t make any sense, etc..
55-59/D+
It has its moments, but all in all a bad episode. The plot is laughable, the characters not only act out of character but there character isn’t being worked on at all, etc..
50-54/D
Senseless plot, no, or very few, good moments or good dialogue. No interesting reason to give this a rewatch.
45-49/D-
Take an episode that gets a D, and remove most of the good that allowed it to even get that grade.
0-44/F
Terrible episode, no rewatch value, no characterization, continuity errors and mistakes all over the place, a plot that is so bad it makes you laugh until you cry, etc..
Cheers,
Bill
