Veronica Mars 1.19 (Hot Dogs)
Watch out for Aaron Echolls, he’s on a rampage!

–More time with the Echolls’ is always a good thing.
–I don’t want to be mean, but the chick playing Mandy is hella weird looking.
–Pissed off Aaron Echolls is one scary, scary motherfucker!
–I’m telling you man, Logan is a pimp with a capital P, so god damn smooth.
–Poor, poor Leo, and man, that Veronica sure is a two-timer, she’s lucky she’s cute and can get away with that type of shit.
There’s plenty to like in Hot Dogs, and boy, oh boy does it ever end on a great “shit hitting the fan sort of moment.” That being said, it’s a bit of a step back for Veronica Mars, a return to the more frivolous episodes from earlier in the season. Trust me, I have a hard time saying that when giant chunks of the episode focus on Aaron Echolls and Lily Kane, but I couldn’t shake that early season frivolous feeling while watching Hot Dogs.
It should go without saying that I was obviously quite peeved at the dog storyline. By this point I think anyone reading this blog should know me a little and that means you know how much I hate people who fuck with dogs. So I did spend a good portion of the episode wishing death upon the dog nappers, but something held me back from connecting completely with the doggy storyline, and her name was Mandy. Like I said earlier, I don’t want to be mean, but the way that actress chose to take on the character of Mandy was very, very weird, and when combined with her weird look I was left weirded out most of the time. A shallow criticism I know, but when something weirds me out it weirds me out.
I will leave you with this thought though, and I can’t stress this enough, psycho Aaron Echolls is a scary motherfucker. I know I’m repeating myself but god dammit man, when he starts going ape shit on Trina’s boyfriend, with the awesome Dean Martin accompaniment, I was scared that he was going to jump out of the TV and start whipping me, that’s how scary he was. A decent amount of arc development, some Echolls badassery and lots of dogs leave Hot Dogs as a good, but not great episode of Veronica Mars.
